Pilate washes his hands

When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it (Matthew 27:24).

“The death of Christ was not because of the Romans in the first place, it was not because of the Jews in the first place, it was because of God. The true power behind the death of the Son of God was neither Roman or Jewish. It wasn’t Pilate; it wasn’t Herod; it wasn’t Caiaphas; it wasn’t Annas; it wasn’t the Sanhedrin; it was God Himself—it was God the Father. And the apostles also knew this and preached this the Day of Pentecost.” – John MacArthur

“Pilate’s Dilemma” – this sermon by Alistair Begg concerns Pontius Pilate’s moral role in Jesus’ crucifixion in Mark 15:6-15.

Excellent exposition from Mr. Begged regarding the dilemma, not just Pilate, but we all face to suchlike a degree! Pilate a cruel and undeniably irre- verent ruler, yet each of us have that same decision to make.
