The sensor is a normally opened switch. When the seat belt is buckeled, it closes the switch and thus shutting the idiot light off. I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 and it is consistently throwing a P0305 (#5 piston misfire) code and any time the RPM reaches 2800, it cuts out and surges between 2600 and 2800 rpm (exactly like a Rev limiter, assume a limp mode).After work I replaced the sensor. 15 km down the highway the CEL & traction control lights came on and the identical serious of events from June 8th repeated. I drove the Jeep home, once home I read on this forum that some members had to disconnect the battery overnight to "reset" the CPU to get rid of the CEL code from returning.Welcome to the Jeep Family Not sure how your system is set up, but my 2001 WJ is rear wheel drive all time when in 4-hi (Quadra-trac II) with front wheels engaging as drive only when it detects slippage/difference between front and rear wheel speed rotations, or if I shift the tranny stick into 4-Lo where it becomes full 4x4, but only for low speed and off-road (non-tarmac) applications.P01745 & P0869 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I purchased a jeep and let's say I got the worse end of the deal! Owned it 3 days then limp mode accrued. So I pulled the codes and it said line pressure too high for too long & trans pressure too high. I then pulled the valve body & put a new tcm, transducer sensor, pressure sensor, & speed input and output ...I believe chrysler had an issue with these a while back. When the module fails, the trans is limp moded to 2nd gear. You really need a DRB II scanner to determine the issue. Once you use the correct scanner and determine that you have "no comm" with the TCM (EATX), check your powers and ground for the module..
