UPDATE: Feb 2019. As has been mentioned in the comments, Cardinal Pell has been convicted of 5 counts of sexual abuse of minors. dating back to 1996 when he was Archbishop of Melbourne. Further charges of incidents in the 1970’s have been dropped by prosecutors. It has been reported Pell will appeal the conviction. He will be sentenced next week.
 
Update 14 March 2019 Cardinal Pell has been sentenced to 6 years in prison
 
Update 5: 7 April 2020. Cardinal Pell’s appeal to the High Court has been successful. The convictions have been overturned and Pell was released from prison.

And it really did kind of change the world. The changes increased literacy and education, and some even say the Protestant Reformation was the beginning of Capitalism in Europe.
